A National Park Travel-Themed Nursery

DON’T- Spend 18 hours painting a mural while 7 months pregnant!

When we started putting together Graham’s Nursery, I knew that I wanted it to be travel-themed. It wasn’t until we were on our Florida National Parks Trip when I was 15-weeks pregnant that I decided I wanted to incorporate the National Parks. I thought why not highlight the places we were going with him already and hope that he would be inspired to travel the world one day!

One of my very first purchases for Graham was this crib sheet. I loved the bison. They were the exact colors & vibe that I wanted to create in his room. These are extremely soft so we also got a cactus print as well.

Area 3: The Mural & Changing Area

**The Mural**

We knew that when Graham was going to be four-months-old we had a trip to Joshua Tree Planned, so of course, I was inspired to paint some Joshua Trees on his wall. What I didn’t know is that this would take 18+ hours to complete. I thought it would be a simple trace & paint, but that was not the case. Luckily I pushed through and stuck with it, and I was very happy with the result.

Our Furniture was passed down from Graham’s Great, Great-Grandfather and we turned the desk into a changing table! We loved the muslin crib sheets so also got a matching changing pad cover.

Area 4: Where He’s Been

On our first trip as a family of three to New River Gorge National Park, I decided that having a poster for every trip we went on would cover his walls pretty quickly. Instead, I decided that we would get a postcard for every destination he traveled to! On the back, I write a few trip highlights/memories & I hope that one day he’ll be able to look back at these and reminisce! lt will be something he can take with him when he grows up (although I hope that time doesn’t come too quickly!)
