Toddler Travel Activities

Activities for On the Go

Our toddler is no longer just sleeping & drinking bottles on the plane! He wants to stay busy & be entertained more & more! These are our favorite toys that are easy to pack, compact, and entertaining.

Favorites include:

Magnetic Tins

Busy Baby Books

Indestructible Books

Reusable Sticker Books

Suction Cup Spinner

Kids Kindle Fire Tablet

Screen time is a highly debated topic, but when we travel, this rule goes out the window! If he can stay busy & happy, we’re happy & so is everyone else! We love our Kindle Fire Tablet because it’s easy to use, keeps a charge for a very long time & it’s toddler proof-the case is great for all those drops!

Headphones

There is nothing more annoying than listening to a kids’ show when you don’t want to! These fit our toddler great & are very easy to plug right into the tablet!

Toddler Snacks

Eating On The Go

Snacks, Snacks & More Snacks! Besides activities, having LOTS of snacks is an absolute must. We have found that having easy-to-eat, no mess snacks to keep Graham busy is the way to go.

Our Favorites:

Pouches

Granola Bars

Berries

Cheese Crackers

Puffs

Stackable Toddler Snack Container

This thing is awesome! It easily fits down the side of the diaper bag & gives a great visual for Graham to pick out what snack he wants next! The little plastic containers are easy for him to hold & easy to clean!

Snack Dispenser

This is another container we pack (ready to go with a favorite snack) and we can put things from the stackable container in here when he’s ready to eat! This helps contain the mess as much as possible!

Portable Spill Proof Cups

Portable Cooler

Great for milk, water, snacks & more! We like this one because the handle clips right to the stroller or another bag!

Toddler Sleep Essentials

Sleeping On the Go

Sleeping/Relaxing while on a trip is at the top of every parent’s priority list! We have found that it’s helpful to recreate the same atmosphere as at home, so always pack:

Sound Machine

Zipadee Zip Sleep Sack

Comfy PJS

We also make sure we have a safe place for him to sleep & bring our favorite travel monitor!

Travel Crib or Pack n Play

Depending on space, these are both great options! The Travel crib is so easy to set up, light & great for camping, hotels, etc.

Inflatable Travel Mattress

This is on our radar as Graham is starting to hit the 30-pound weight limit on the pack n play! We have not tried this out yet, but it comes highly recommended and has a 5-star review rating on Amazon!

Travel Monitor

We love this monitor for a few reasons: it is so easy to set up (no wifi/app) and it has a great range! The battery life is awesome too!

Portable Sound Machine

Another great product that keeps a charge & helps our toddler sleep!

Travel Tools for On the Go

Travel (especially through the airport) can be a huge hassle. There is SO MUCH GEAR! After taking many flights with G, we have found a few hacks that we think are so helpful! Put the carseat on a roller! Gate check the stroller so you can use it to help transport things & always have a carrier to help you be hands free!  Always put your carseat in a travel bag!

Check out our best travel system for traveling with a baby here!

Carseat Cover & Roller Cart (or Combo Roller Bag)

Carrying the car seat through the airport is not a fun endeavor! We recently got a rolling cart that we can easily strap the car seat to & it makes our lives so much easier! We found that if it’s branded for baby travel, it’s much more expensive! The linked one above works great with our seat! We always gate-check our stroller & usually our seat as well (if we don’t bring it on board with us!) We like to use a bag to store these. It also allows some more packing space for diapers, etc.! In hindsight, knowing how much we’ve used this system, I would have probably bought a combo storage bag on wheels from the get-go!

Baby Carriers

Depending on the type of trip you’re taking, a baby carrier is great!

Ergo Baby Soft Carrier

We almost always carry this with us, no matter what we’re doing & where we’re going! It’s great for hands-free movement in the airport if we’re walking around a city or taking a quick hike! This carrier is easy to pack, light, and is rated up to 50 lbs!

Osprey Poco Framed Hiking Carrier

Hiking is one of the activities we almost always do when we travel! We love our Osprey Poco! Graham sleeps great in it & it fits both of our body types well! This is an easy item to gate-check & carry on too! If we know we’re going to gate check, we use this travel cover!
